Back in time

I have encountered, developed, questioned, and improved my purpose. The role I play in education is being defined. My interest in technologies has led me to study and understand how they work. My appreciation for learning has led me to seek out where technology can serve a purpose to facilitate. I am the middleman. In this role I have an important task of bridging the gap between an important learning function, and the tool that may enable it.
The spark of interest in developing understanding of learning and technology’s role, spurred from my observation and experience in working with passionate educators that needed answers. The questions they ask are not hard, but they are vital. Why, how, and when? These are the questions that drive my thinking. Why should a student use a tool, how are they learning with it, and when can or should they use it? Over the course of this program I have been able to address these kinds of issues by understanding how a students learn, and how they interact with technology in various settings.
My goal when I first started was to find the purpose of using mobile technologies in a classroom. By understanding the ways in which we teach and learn, my take on mobile technologies has broadened the scope of what they are used for. More importantly, how and when they are used. Developing this perspective has become a part of how I approach educational technology. Through the study of TPACK, I am now more well equipped with the principles of proper educational technology approaches.
Two years ago seems so long ago. Yet I cannot imagine not having this incredible knowledge and understanding that I have been exposed to and experienced. My vision now is far more focused and structured.
