Alejandro's MAET Coursework
Thank you for visiting my coursework page. In this page you will get a glimpse at the courses I have taken throughout the MAET program. Each of these courses played an important role in shaping my understanding of education and technology.
CEP 810
Teaching for Understanding with Technology
Fall 2010
Instructor: Susan Wright
In this introductory class, I had the opportunity to learn about using various technologies in a classroom setting. Along with the use of such tools, I was also able to develop a Personal Growth Plan where I could express my interests and outlook on using technologies in the classroom. Through the use of multiple media formats, I was able to explore and express my knowledge of educational technology. One way was through a blog. Here is the link to the blog I used to express, reflect, and plan based on my views and experiences.
COURSEWORK EXAMPLES:
CEP810 Blog
The video below is a project I created with my group. This project had a focus on using screen capturing technologies to record lessons, and make available for students to review.

CEP 811
Adapting Innovative Technologies in Education
Spring 2011
Instructor: Carolyn McCarthy
Building on the technical knowledge gained in CEP810, CEP811 expanded my understanding of creating accessible lessons. Through this course I was able to better understand how to create an online presence that allowed me to be more accessible to my peers. It also gave me the opportunity to create a lesson that would allow students with different abilities to access information.
In this course I maintained a blog, created a self guided lesson using PowerPoint, and I also created a website using Google Sites. We also dove deeper into the realm of the TPACK ideology. An approach that has helped shape how I approach technology in education.

CEP 812
Applying Educational Technology to Issues of Practice
Spring 2011
Instructor: Emily Stone
The final course in the three course Educational Technology Certificate program. CEP812 taught me to put together a personal technology plan, and also address an educational issue by providing a technology solution.
In this course I was able to collaborate with a fellow student, and create a Group Leadership Project online where we offered a solution to an issue. Along with that project, I also created a Wicked Problem Project, where I planned and implemented a technology solution for a live classroom.

CEP 815
Technology and Leadership
Fall 2011
Instructor: Nick Sheltrown
CEP815 was a critical and empowering course in my MAET experience. It offered me insight into different leadership styles, techniques, and approaches. While it addressed the ideas and theories behind leadership, it also gave me the chance to put into action my leadership approaches by creating projects that focused on sustainability. In creating these projects, I had to design solutions that would address issues in the long run, and not simply patch it. The mindset throughout this course was to think about being missional vs being instrumental.
COURSEWORK EXAMPLES:
The video below presents a solution that I implemented at the school I work at. It allows teachers to keep track of students that are missing work, and student support members can then followup an help students finish the work.

CEP 822
Approaches to Educational Research
Fall 2011
Instructor: Ed Roeber
This research course provided me with the foundation to understand how educational research is approached. From inception to implementation and reflection, CEP822 taught me about the principles and objectives of research. To show understanding and application of the course's teachings, I was responsible for creating a research proposal, with accompanying literature review and budgetting specifics.

CEP 820
Teaching K12 Students Online
Spring 2012
Instructor: Michelle Schira Hagerman
Many of the courses in the MAET program reference online teaching and learning tools. CEP820 is the course that integrates the principles of online teaching, design, and the tools that facilitate these initiatives. In taking this course I was able to create an online class that addressed a specific content area, and also addressed the issue of a real class that only met a few times a month.

Teaching and Learning with Technology
Summer 2012
Instructor: Danah Henriksen
In preparation for building an online portfolio, I wanted to have a better understanding of how an educator's portfolio should be presented. CEP416 provided me with the background knowledge to plan, design, create, and publish an online portfolio.
I produced two websites as projects. One to serve as a portfolio, and a second to serve as a technology resource page, where I created reviews of tech tools that can be used in the classroom.
